Backyard Birthday Party:
So, trying to plan that
perfect party? We've done close to 700 parties since we
started this business. We've learned a thing or two (as you might
imagine). Care to learn from the experts? Read on!
Birthday parties - It doesn't matter how old the birthday boy or girl
is. If you know the youngsters are coming to the party, it's a
good idea to have a place for them to play and expend that nearly
limitless energy children seem to have. Be sure however to verify
the size of the moonwalk you are renting. There are a ton
of companies in the party rental industry. Many of the "newer"
companies that rent moonwalks start with cheaper, smaller units, made
from inferior material. All Day Party Rentals only carries large,
15'x15' moonwalks, made of triple stitched vinyl, right here in the USA.
Believe it or not, the quality of the material really should matter to
you. The thicker vinyl has a better look and bounce to it.
It really does make the moonwalk superior. Also, companies such as
ours pay more for our moonwalks because there is a licensing fee
associated with using names such as Disney or Marvel's Spiderman.
Some of our competitors buy the cheaper, mock art such as "Spider Guy"
or "Pretty Princess Girl." The kids know the difference.
Give 'em credit.
Now, on to the party itself. When dealing with kids remember, even
they have a limit to how much time they can spend bouncing in a
moonwalk. We always advise our clients to offer their young party
guests a "low-cardio" form of entertainment. If you don't, they'll
just run around your house and yard until they're ready to get back into
the bouncer again. You can do this in a number of ways:
Add a spin-art machine. This is a great activity! Put
a frisbee inside, turn on the motor, and the disk begins to spin at a
very high rate of speed. Little drops of paint make incredible
patterns. Best of all, they dry in about 10 minutes, and the kids
have something else with which to play. Here's the best part of
all... you won't need to buy party favors! That's right, the
frisbee they paint IS their party favor. Even better yet,
you're a hero to the parents of your birthday guests for not being
another parent to send their kiddo home with lots of sugary candy and
bubble gum to get stuck in their hair! Finally, the spin-art
activity gives them a party favor that unlike the bags full of junk and
junk food, stays with them as a lasting memory of your child's party.
You can also add a cotton candy machine! Much like the
spin-art machine, the cotton candy machine can be interactive. Let
your party guests twirl the cone inside the cotton candy machine and
make their own cotton candy. And the cotton candy machine we use
at All Day Party Rentals is top notch, making the same great stuff you
get at sporting events and other great venues.
If spin-art and cotton candy aren't to your liking, think about giving
the kiddos a way to cool down when they work up a sweat inside the
moonwalk during our Gulf Coast Summers. We have two ways you can
cool them down. Ever met a kid that didn't like snow cones?
Us either. Snow cones are one of the most popular concessions
items we utilize, and believe it or not... they're popular even during
the cold months of the year. However, if you want something the
kids and adults can enjoy together, you should consider one of our
frozen drink machines. Since our margarita machines have two,
independent bowls, they can create two different flavors of frozen
drinks at the same time. Imagine having "white cherry" on the
right side while the adults have "strawberry margaritas" on the left
side. This has been a popular suggestion for many of our clients.
No sense in letting the kids have all the fun... and keep ALL of your
guests cool at the same time.
Finally, a suggestion you should really consider is renting one of our
large drum fans. Yep, these are the really big ones where
the blades are belt driven. These fans REALLY push the air.
So, put one in your backyard and direct the air over your guests.
After all, they'll all be seated in the folding chairs you rented from
All Day Party Rentals, enjoying a frozen margarita, and watching their
kids have fun in the moonwalk! Alternatively, some of our guests
rent the fan and direct the air into the moonwalk. Pretty clever
idea... really.
The last thing we normally suggest is that you consider booking one of
our talented characters or clowns. We only work with the
best, and they are incredibly talented. If you've got a party
scheduled for 2-3 hours as people typically do, allocate one hour to a
performer, and let them put on a show for the kids. Believe us,
it's always a big hit!
Getting Clever with Margarita Machines:
So, thinking of renting a margarita machine? Well, let us
cover the basics... and then we'll give you some ideas to spice up your
party.
Let's start with the machine itself. You have to be careful to set
the machine up properly to be sure to have your frozen drinks. It
is not a good idea to put margarita machines on extension cords.
If you must, make sure the cord is of a heavy, commercial gauge.
Tell us in advance, and we can bring one of ours. Also, make sure
that whichever outlet you choose to plug in the machine, that the
machine is the only thing on that outlet. The compressors need
lots of power, and sharing power means no frozen drinks. Another
thing to consider is that the machines are air-cooled. Make sure
you give the machine about 18 inches of clearance all the way around.
Failure to give the machine this needed room could cause it to operate
less efficiently... and yes, you guessed it... no frozen drinks.
Okay, one last tip to share. Want to use the machine outdoors?
No problem. Consider this... the machine freezes faster indoors.
So, give yourself at least two hours before the party starts if you're
going to use the machine outdoors. Another tip though is to let
the machine freeze completely indoors, then carefully move it outdoors.
This will cut down on freezing time. Wait, there's one more tip.
Don't use cups that are too large or much of your beverages will be
wasted. A 12 ounce cup is the perfect size for most parties... and
will make your frozen drinks go a lot further, trust us on this!
Okay, we promised the fun stuff... so here it is. Anyone can rent
a margarita machine... right? But not just anyone can make a
frozen drink look festive. How do you do something like that?
Well, consider visiting the
Oriental Trading Company. Go to the site, and in the search
menu, type "drink umbrellas." For only $5.00, you can get 144 of
those drink umbrellas you also see at exotic beach locations. Here
is a picture:
)
Okay, so now you have a really cool tip on making your party look more
festive, and it only cost you $5 bucks. That's okay, you can thank
us later. What about the drinks themselves? Do you own a
juicer? If so, you might really like this next idea.
Consider juicing some fresh fruit. Choose our regular margarita
mix, then juice some mango or watermelon. Yep, there's nothing
quite like watermelon or mango margaritas. They really are quite
tasty. You just add the juice to the mix while it's freezing, and
you're in business.
One more idea. Get cute with colors. Food coloring can make
your margaritas interesting. A good example is St. Patrick's Day.
Pour in your mix and alcohol, then add some green food coloring.
What do you get? That's right, green margaritas!!!!
Alright, just one more idea and we'll wrap this one up. Themes are
very important to the success of a party. Don't get us wrong... a
party is a party, and parties are pretty fun to begin with. But,
to make it memorable, try to come up with a fun theme. By now,
you're probably thinking we own stock in the Oriental Trading Company (hummmm...
maybe not a bad idea). Currently though, we're just customers...
and we love their stuff. So, consider going back to their site,
and typing in the search box, "Beachcomber Hats." Imagine giving
each of your party guests one of these as they arrive at your party:
Or, take it up a notch, and have a
Hula Party! You've already got drink umbrellas and mango
margaritas... now you just need to dress up your guests. Get some
Hawaiian stuff and you're ready to go:
Give us a jingle!!!! We know
what we're doing and we promise to make your party a success! |
